Honey – Secrets of the Hive

Honey

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Some of you Earth’s Enrichers know the secret of the hive and others, well, you have just unknowingly stumbled upon it. Honey is the holy grail of holy grails. We bet that some of you make tea and, instead of lumping sugar into it, use honey to bring out the sweetness. If you have not tried honey instead of sugar, we suggest you grab some green tea and try it– it couldn’t hurt.

We mean it, it couldn’t hurt. A teaspoon of raw honey is equal to about 64 fat-free, sodium-free, cholesterol-free calories– Honey, you’ve definitely got it! And get this, honey is more than a sweetener, it’s a preserver– an antibacterial, anti-fungal preserver. Buying a jar of honey seems like a good investment if you ask us. Not only does this precious substance have a great shelf life and offer a health-conscious alternative to sugar, it helps to preserve memories, create energy, suppress coughs, relieve allergies, and much more.

Studies have shown that honey can help boost memories, so having a spoonful every now and again could make you all the wiser. While preserving your memory, you can help suppress that little cough you may have and sleep better at night– multitasking the healthy way! Honey is the go-to-guy for everything– both in internal (as in allergies, coughing, sleep, and energy) and external (treating wounds, burns, sores, dandruff, and infections) health.

The EE 411: Honey – Rules of the Hive

After hearing about all the great secrets of the hive, are you surprised that we put honey in select products? It was one of the best ideas we’ve ever had. Honey Granola Bar Soap was designed to replenish your skin with a silky cleansing that removes dead skin. The point, ladies and gentlemen, is that it leaves your skin feeling soft, supple and replenished. If you don’t believe us yet, you can also try our Honey Vanilla Lip Balm. How much better can it get? The very same ingredients that you can eat together, Oatmeal and Honey, can be used to make your skin healthy. It’s a natural and healthy win and there is no secret in that!

As always, we encourage you to do your own research and learn what is best for your skin. Honey, although great for your skin, comes with its own set of precautions like all natural and organic things. Honey in its raw state can contain certain dirts and bacterias that aren’t harmful to us but can be rough on babies, so please wait at least a year until you try honey on your kiddos to suppress their coughs. That way they can build up enough immunity. Additionally, in some cases, using honey on your skin can feel a tad discomforting similar to a light stinging sensation. If that is the case, we suggest you stop using the honey and ask a dermatologist.

Another aspect is a honey allergy, which doesn’t happen all too often but if you find that you are allergic, it may be due to pollen found in the honey. Overuse of honey could also lead to the drying out of skin tissue, so be very stingy with how you use this golden substance– you don’t necessarily want the Midas touch. Last but certainly not least, if you’re an individual with diabetes you do not want to place any honey directly on your wounds because it may cause your glucose level to rise.

Always know yourself, and be prepared when trying out new things. If you have any concerns, call a professional and pick his/her brain just to be safe. I hope we provided you with some awesome info– until next time!

Organic Skin Care – Mother’s Day: Special Place in Her Heart

Organic Skin Care - Mother's Day - Special Place in Her Heart
Happy Mother’s Day

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Next week is Mother’s Day Y’all!  Do you have any idea what to get her? Our goal for every Mother’s Day is to top the last one. So we have a few suggestions for you that are great for her health and mind and that will find a special place in her heart.

Before you start panicking, take the time to think of why you are looking for the best gift possible.  It’s because this is the day that you celebrate your mother.  So, take the time to reflect on her importance. Think about what she means to you and how you feel about her. Thank her for this year and for how much she’s been there for you.

After you have taken the time to brainstorm, write your thoughts down on a card or letter.  This will create something personal for her to keep along with her gift. This way, when she looks back on this day, she will always have a memento to remind her of the thought that you put into making it memorable. This extra expression of your love will make this year’s gift very special!

The EE 411: Keeping her Health in Mind

When we were kids, mommas would take care of our every need. They would feed us, dress us, hug us and kiss us.  They would also bathed us and made sure our skin was properly cared for. This meant that they would check the products they used to make sure they were right for their baby’s skin.

Now, as an adult, you should return the favor and get her something that looks out for her skin care needs and makes her happy!  As always, we will make it easy for you.  We provide an organic skin care line that we think is the best option for your moms’ skin.  We are sure that she will enjoy using our products and they will make her very happy.

Therefore, we would like to offer you our Mother’s Day Special.   Choose from our wide range of skin care products and when you Buy 1 you will Get 1 FREE.  Our products can be ordered online at www.earthsenrichments.com or purchased and pick-up directly from our facilities (please call 1.888.958.5687). This special is good Monday, April 27 – Monday May 11, 2015 only.

Thank you for your continued support.  We hope that you have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Health and Living – Social Health

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Hey Earth’s Enrichers

It doesn’t seem like summer is ready to come to its end yet. So do not stop having fun yet. There is plenty of time to meet new people and establish new relationships. Let us elaborate on what we mean by relationships. We mean friendships, meeting new people, or maybe even possibly meeting someone you want to get to know on a deeper level. Not like that! Instead, we mean taking the time to initiate meaningful relationships. This can be done in old relationships with friends, family, or spouse. This can also help you determine how to make meaningful relationships with new people.

The topic this week is social health, ladies and gentlemen. Social health is the making and conservation of meaningful interpersonal relationships. It is a way of networking through your social life where you analyze what relationships are beneficial and not destructive. It helps you build confidence about your interactions and gives you a better support system. This, of course, means you have to be there for your friends too. It is only right to return the favor if they support you.   An even balance of work, family, friends, and self can bring you happiness.   Just do not overwhelm yourself, so know your limits.

When it comes to relationships, we’d like to talk to you about quality over quantity. The number of friends or stable relationships you have does not matter. It is the quality of those relationships that matters. An individual can literally only have two friends and have a better quality relationship with them than an individual who may have ten friends. Now, you can have ten friends and have a  great quality relationship with them. The main point is to not focus on the numbers. Instead, focus on the relationship.

We have a key to helping you create better quality relationships and it’s not even a secret. The key is communication. It seems simple, right? Believe it or not, communication is a skill that needs plenty of practice to maintain and hone. With practice comes better ways to communicate and share your ideas, experiences, and feelings without obstructing a relationship. The trick is not to think too much, while at the same time trusting yourself and your friends. Feel free to ask if they are okay with something or ask their point of view. Questions like these open channels to communicate more deeply and make more connections.

Practicing communication will help you move one step closer to creating a stable social network and maintaining better quality relationships. Having a more stable social network made of family, spouse, and friends helps you build a better support system, which gives you more confidence in everyday interactions. With the mastering of communication skills, you can become a professional at making friends and having a great social life. You deserve it!

The EE 411: Social Health

With the creation of new technology and more efficient ways of getting in touch comes greater responsibility. There is nothing wrong with having relationships (friendships, etc.) with individuals online (as long as you know who they are) but do not let those online relationships take away from in person, face-to-face relationships. Remember, balance is the key to happiness.

Ways to help or open communication in relationships:

  • Play twenty-one questions where you can ask them 21 questions about themselves and make your own rules. Make it fun!
  • If you know that your friends like to have spa days or massages, how about you all find a time when you are free and meet up. Or you could have your own Spa parties at each other’s places and interchange. (We recommend Calming Spa Seaweed body bar, sea salt, sugar, and body balm for the theme.)
  • Find something that all of your friends like to do whether it’s shopping, going out dancing or for dinner, playing your favorite sports game, even getting together and watching your favorite sports game.
  • If you are too busy for friends, make time! Having a break every now and again can help you think clearly. It also benefits your relationships.
  • Having a game night or dinner party is a great way to get friends and family together.

Living Healthy – Staying Cool

Young Woman Looking At Sun Drawn On Her Back With Suntan Lotion

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

The summer temperatures are ripe this year! They range from 80 to anywhere in the 90s and above. In this kind of weather, you must bring your A-game of coolness. So we ask you, how are you staying cool in the toaster summer of 2014?

We at EE are natural at staying cool. So this week we are going to let you in on the scoop; that way you’re not burning up out there. It is very important that you keep several things in mind during the summer time heat: (1) the clothes you wear, (2) keeping yourself hydrated, (3) the shoes you wear, (4) your skin’s protection, and (5) keeping an eye on your body’s signals.

In order to prepare for those five things, it is a good idea to know the temperature and the temperature changes throughout the day. Typically, the hottest time of the day is anywhere between 3pm and 6pm. These are the times that you should be most prepared for.

So, when you dress in the morning and you have learned that it will be a very hot day, stray away from wearing black—even if it’s your color! We all know how we look good in black, but we guarantee you it will not feel good in 90 degree weather. It is recommended to wear light colors, because sun rays are drawn to darker ones making it feel way hotter than it is.

Invest in a water bottle, one that you won’t dispose of easily. This way you’re one step closer to sparing the environment and keeping yourself properly hydrated. Try not to leave the house without your icy water-filled bottle. These water bottles can usually hold a minimum of 16 oz. Keeping your body hydrated keeps you from tiring, getting headaches, and possibly getting nauseous while going about your daily activities in the scorching sun.

The right shoes are very necessary. If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking in the hot sun, believe it or not, black sandals aren’t the best either. They get terribly warm when you’re walking.  This could cause “some” discomfort. So, when you’re putting that outfit together and you plan on being outside indirect sunlight, try building the outfit with a lighter pair of shoes.

One of the most important parts of this list is protecting your skin properly from the sunlight. It is important to use sunscreen when going out in hot weather (where the sun and its rays thrive). You could also find moisturizers that have sun protection. There is nothing worse than being sun burnt or having sun poisoning. This is important even if you’re not at the beach because it’s better to be safe than sorry.

Last but not least, pay close attention to your body and know your body’s distress signals. If you feel faint, find some shade and take a little break. Sip some of that water that you prepared in that reusable water bottle, and take your time getting back in the mix. If symptoms like exhaustion, headaches, nausea, and irritated skin persist, seek professional medical attention.

The EE 411:

Here are some other cool tips:

  1. If you exercise, shift your schedule to when it is cooler. Try going out early in the morning or later in the evening. That way, you don’t subject yourself to harsh heat.
  2. Invest in a spray bottle. There are some really cool ones with fans attached to them. J
  3. Wear cotton or synthetic breezy clothing.
  4. Bathe frequently and keep up with your skin (cleansing, moisturizing, exfoliating, etc.)
  5. Avoid caffeine and/or alcohol; it dehydrates you.
  6. Go where the air conditioning is! If you don’t have any at home, travel to the library or mall.
  7. Heat rises! If it is too hot upstairs, then spend some time downstairs or on the floor. When in doubt watch your house pet; they will find the coolest spot in the house.

Sugar Scrub – Revitalizing Sugar Scrubs

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Sugar Scrub - Revitalizing Sugar ScrubsThe countdown has begun! It’s a few more weeks till summer begins! Is your skin ready? Or did you let the harsh winter win over your skin? No worries, Earth’s Enrichers there are three new sugar scrubs to help revitalize, moisturize, cleanse, and bring back your skin’s natural glow. Not to mention, leaving you feeling refreshed and smelling great. Please welcome Calming Spa Seaweed, Lavender of the Valley, and Lemon Fresh Shea sugar scrubs. For those of you who haven’t really used sugar scrubs and have sensitive skin, this week’s blog is for you.

What are Sugar Scrubs and why use them?

Sugar scrubs are a sweet and sensational way to exfoliate. They are cleansers equipped with sugar crystal that are designed to gently exfoliate the skin. Exfoliating is the process before bathing or rinsing that gets rid of all the dead skin. This helps to make your bathing experience a lot more efficient. Dead skin only inhibits the soap from doing its job properly and stops it from deep cleansing. Exfoliating helps remove this barrier of dead skin and allows your bathing experience to be more effective.

What are the benefits of Sugar Scrubs?

Using sugar scrubs effectively helps you remove the dead skin that may otherwise be difficult to wash away. Exfoliating the dead skin helps your soap or cleanser do its job efficiently. The end result of this is glowing, soft, smooth, and refurbished skin.

Sugar Scrubs not only remove dead skin, but also help draw out impurities or toxins in the skin. They can be used on all of the external skin of the body. It allow for a deeper clean that does not chemically put your skin in danger. They moisturize and buffer the skin, restoring its natural glow and smoothness.

How to use them?

Sugar scrub can be applied by rubbing into the skin with your hands, a wash cloth, or for a more effective result, with a hard bathing utensil like loofa or body scrub brush. There is no need to apply an extensive amount of pressure or scrub ferociously. Lightly pressing is sufficient to remove dead skin and clear the way for the soap.

You may use the sugar scrub in your bath or while you are in the shower usually scrubbing in a gentle, circular motion. After you have finished scrubbing, gently rinse the sugar off your skin with your hands or a scrubbing utensil. Then proceed with the rest of your bath.

Depending on your body as we always say knowing your body is the way to keep it healthy it can be used on any external surface and sensitive skin. If you detect any lasting redness, welting, or irritation of any kind, contact a professional. It could be allergies or you may have scrubbed too hard. It’s always important to find out from your doctor.

The EE 411:

Before I continue on to the precautions of using sugar scrubs, we’d like to tell you what exactly is in our sugar scrubs. Since each sugar scrub has its own unique scent, we have boiled; It down to this: certified organic oils, powders, and sugars made from natural, organic elements. Each sugar scrub contains sunflower oil which is great for helping skin regenerate and reducing scars. It has the appropriate amount of Vitamin A, D, and E for your skin. Another ingredient is coconut oil that aids in relieving rashes and irritated skin. It also prevents drying and flaking of the skin.

As for special benefits for specific sugar scrubs, rosemary mint in Calming Spa Seaweed helps to relieve itchy and irritated skin; while also clearing up any nasal or respiratory discomfort. Lemon Fresh Shea’s special ingredients like Lemongrass can help prevent skin infections and fight fungus on the skin. Lavender of the Valley has organic lavender that acts as a great relaxant, remedy for stress, and is an effective cleanser. When you have time, check out all the other benefits of these sugars. Discover which one is your favorite.

There are a lot of benefits in the sugar as well. The certified organic sugar in the sugar scrubs exfoliates the skin and acts as a moisturizer. While it moisturizes, it breaks down any toxins and removes any dead skin. However, there are a few precautions when using sugar scrubs or any scrubs for that matter. Do not use on already irritated skin, this means if your skin is welted and very sensitive (consult your doctor) it may not be prudent to use scrubs on that area. Or on any open wounds. Also, if you have sun burn, do not exfoliate—imagine a carpet burn. Remember, keep what’s good for you in mind.

Organic Skin Care on the Rise?

Organic Skin Care on the Rise
Top Quality Products

Dear Earth’s Enrichers

Over the years products, like skin care, have been made with the idea of efficiency and effectiveness. It had to work properly, which meant actually cleaning or moisturizing the hair or the skin, for example.  To do this, some companies used chemically made substances that fulfilled the product’s primary purposes.

These products were also made to have a powerful, yet delightful smell of the customer’s choosing. Usually these scents were made from affordable and easily acquired materials like artificial scents which can be chemically based as well. The sort of ingredients that these companies turned to can have latent and sometimes extreme effects on the skin. Also, the customers could be allergic to these chemicals without knowing it.

To test the safety of these products for human beings, some companies turned to animal testing. That meant if the product was not safe for humans, then, well, you know what would happen. Over the years, research and discovery have linked certain skin care problems/health risks to certain chemicals in skin care like parabens, sulfates, etc.

Individuals also began to become concerned about their skin health. Noticing that some products they used seemed to only further worsen some conditions like eczema or create extremely dry skin. Thus, a need for products that contained better solutions for getting the job done became apparent.

Organic and all-natural skin care became a better solution for cleanliness and other needs, offering products that not only aid your skin with some irritants, but also keep and maintain its healthiness. For instance, oatmeal can help relieve the irritation of eczema.

So if you’re wondering why organic skin care is important and how it became so popular, think about the secure feeling you have washing your child in all-natural, organic, and safe ingredients that support your child’s skin and help keep it healthy. Or imagine the peace of mind you may have knowing that you don’t have to worry about the possible adverse effects of sulfates when you’re bathing with rosemary mint or chai tea. It’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it?

The EE 411:

There are a whole lot of options now-a-days to find products that are all-natural or organic. There are blogs, websites, and whole companies dedicated to putting your needs first, like here at EE. There are also options and information out there that can give you alternatives in relaxation, hair care and skin care.

The best alternatives to helping maintain your health are eating well and exercising. Eating well pertains to taking in foods that will benefit your skin, hair, and internal health. Exercising helps regulate your body and keeps your body active. This maintains weight and emotional/mental health as well.

Take care of your body inside and out. Listen to your body and discover its likes and dislikes. Doing this could help you maintain/achieve great health. Of course, regularity is important too—no matter how much you may hate it.

Bathing Tools

Earth’s Enrichers

Organic Skin Care - ExfoliatingYou know all those strange bathing tools like the sponge, the loofah or luffa, bath scrunchies, washcloths, brushes—have you ever wondered where they came from or their uses? There are so many bathing tools for so many different reasons like accessibility, specific skin care needs, and to cater to different skin types. Just like the different steps in skin care like exfoliating, cleansing, and moisturizing there are different tools to help you achieve these goals.

For exfoliating, there are the tools like the scrub brushes, hand gloves with the built in scrubbing materials, also the loofah (luffa).  The designed purpose of the exfoliating tools is to help remove dead skin and dirt off of your body as you bathe. The scrub brushes can be used all over the body because of the different brush types that can be chosen to benefit particular types of skin.  Unlike the loofah or hand/bathing gloves, you can find scrub brushes with varying types of bristle strength from soft to something a bit more bristly.

Loofahs have a rough, sand paper like texture and consistency when bought, but over time they tend to wear.  Their original texture will begin to soften when used over and over. While fresh, they do get the job done, though.

For those of you that are more “hands-on”, the bathing gloves also come in different varieties. Some have scrub-like abilities and then others are just like washcloths. They are easy to use, and you don’t have to worry about dropping them while bathing. However, they do tend to snag and tear so if you wear jewelry when you shower or have long nails, this may not be the best option. Some of the bathing gloves are like mittens and others are like ordinary five-fingered gloves.

It is important, as we always say, to know your skin. So if you have sensitive skin, try using exfoliating tools with softer surfaces, and if you have less sensitive skin or need deeper exfoliation, try those with coarser surfaces.

There are other bathing tools for cleansing and moisturizing such as sponges, bath scrunchies, and washcloths. Sponge tools can come in dual sides (exfoliating and bathing sides) and then others like sea sponges are consistent in texture all around. This tool, like the scrunchie, is a relaxing bathing tool. It lathers up your choice of soap and gently massages it into your skin. This helps your cleanser do its job whether it is lavender, which helps relaxation or oatmeal which helps your skin regain its health and eases irritated skin.

Softer tools are usually used on sensitive areas that may have sores, sunburn, irritations, eczema, and so on but they are also for the delicate skin on your face. Washcloths are ideal for facial cleansing. They are soft and fold perfectly on the hands to allow easy wiping of the face. Also, soft brushes can be used to exfoliate the dead skin off of the face.

Using hard brushes to exfoliate the face or any sensitive area is not recommended because it could cause redness and irritation. Also, be careful not to over wash or exfoliate without properly moisturizing afterwards, especially in cold weather. Exfoliating can dry out your skin and moisturizing helps your skin protect itself. Another tool to help you achieve healthy, moisturized skin is the lotion applicator which help you moisturize your skin in hard to reach places like your back. You’d be amazed at some of the bath tools out there. They were made to help you achieve a perfect bathing experience.

The EE 411: Did you know that was once alive?

There are two bath tools that we mentioned previously that were once living. Don’t freak out, but can you guess which ones?

The loofah or luffa was once a seed pod of a plant native to Asia that was dried out and sold as body scrubbers. Talk about organic!

The sea sponge was an actual living creature. It was an underwater creature with pores that allowed water to travel through it. Ehaha, who knew, right?

Organic Skin Care: Moisturizing

Organic Skin Care - MoisturizingHey Earth’s Enrichers!

So far we have touched on all the main skincare steps from cleansing to exfoliating.  Now, we’ve arrived at one of the last but most important steps to skincare maintenance, and that is moisturizing. Moisturizing should occur all throughout your skincare process.  In other words, when picking all of your selected skin products, make sure that they have some moisturizing properties them. That way when you bathe and exfoliate you are not stripping or drying out your skin.

Moisturizing is one of the most essential steps in skincare because it keeps your skin from dehydrating and becoming easily damaged. It protects your skin and prevents it from being split, cut, or torn.  Take for example the feeling of putting on silk right out of the dryer when it is full of static.  Your clothes and sheets will irritate your skin if it’s dry.  It will feel as if pieces of your skin are getting caught and pulled by the materials. Your skin could end up feeling drier and irritated. This is not a good feeling.

In contrast, moisturizing your skin regularly, let’s say once a day or every time you wash your hands, will keep your skin hydrated and conditioned. Keeping your skin hydrated makes the healing process easier for your skin. Also, it increases the soft, smooth feeling of your skin (Isn’t that the best compliment?).  It also keeps your skin looking fresh and younger. When you neglect to moisturize your skin, wrinkles, blemishes, and other signs of aging tend to be more prevalent.

The best time to moisturize is right out of the shower (you know after exfoliating). This way it locks in the hydration and effectively replenishes your skin.  Also, routinely moisturizing can help with some types of dry skin conditions.  So, make sure that you moisturize frequently and that you chose the right moisturizer for your skin.

When it comes to your face, moisturizing is still important after cleansing. Your skin can become flaky and just as irritated if not cleansed then moisturized properly. Still, keep in mind that you must look for products that are right for your skin type. Also, look for facial moisturizers that are oil-free so you don’t clog your pores.

The EE 411:

There is a difference between lotion moisturizers and creams. Lotions are much lighter and can contain less oil than creams.  Creams on the other hand are a lot thicker and contain more oil.

In choosing which to use for your skin, the key determinant should be your skin type. If your skin is naturally oily and doesn’t always need to be moisturized, it is better to use lotions than creams.  However, if your skin is not naturally oily and you have cases of extreme dryness, you should be more inclined to use creams.

Remember, you can always overdo it. Overdoing moisturizers could lead to clogged pores. To avoid this, first find out what your skin type is and chose a lotion or cream that best suits you.
