Hand Sanitizer and Sanitation

                                                                        Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Sanitizer
Sanitizer

After dealing with allergies, blowing your nose, and sneezing…all things you can do that can incorporate your hands, we should probably talk about the most popular way to deal with the germs in the room. One popular solution for fighting bacteria and germs is hand sanitizer. We don’t know about you, but we noticed a sudden boom in hand sanitizer use within the past few years and wanted to make sure you know the facts.

For instance, hand sanitizers are great for dealing with small or minor cases of bacteria and germs. They are not helpful for grimy and visible situations. With that being said, the main and most effective ingredient in hand sanitizers is ethanol, more commonly known as alcohol. This ingredient in hand sanitizer is only effective at destroying bacteria and germs if the alcohol percentage is 60 or above. Any alcohol content lower than that in hand sanitizer is basically not as effective as should be.

Using hand sanitizer in tight or mobile situations can’t be helped but should not replace the tradition of hand washing. Washing your hands with soap and water is more effective and healthier for your skin. With the constant use of alcohol your skin can become dried out and crack. This leaves your hands rough and vulnerable to infection. The drier your skin, the greater the risk that cracking can cause minor open wounds vulnerable to the bacteria and germs you come in contact with.

We know you are desperate to get ahead of allergies and spreading/catching germs but make sure you keep in mind the repercussions of excessiveness. Just because something is said to be good for skin doesn’t always mean it’s good for your skin and good in excessive amounts.

The EE 411: General Hand Sanitizer Tips

When using or selecting hand sanitizer, please keep the following in mind:
• Make sure to choose hand sanitizers with an alcohol content of 60% or above.
• Never over or excessively use hand sanitizers—wash your hands with soap and water instead.
• Look for sanitizers that may incorporate a skin nourishment feature such as a moisturizer.
• When using hand sanitizers or washing your hands, keep hand lotion nearby and apply when needed to prevent cracks in your hands. This would be a perfect opportunity to try some of our body balms. They are cost effective, and a little at a time is all you need to rehydrate your skin. They are perfect to keep near the sink or on your desk in case of emergencies.
Remember to never just take our word for it. Though we do our research, we highly recommend you do yours! Always do what’s best for you, like we always say, you deserve it!

Health and Living – Social Health

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Hey Earth’s Enrichers

It doesn’t seem like summer is ready to come to its end yet. So do not stop having fun yet. There is plenty of time to meet new people and establish new relationships. Let us elaborate on what we mean by relationships. We mean friendships, meeting new people, or maybe even possibly meeting someone you want to get to know on a deeper level. Not like that! Instead, we mean taking the time to initiate meaningful relationships. This can be done in old relationships with friends, family, or spouse. This can also help you determine how to make meaningful relationships with new people.

The topic this week is social health, ladies and gentlemen. Social health is the making and conservation of meaningful interpersonal relationships. It is a way of networking through your social life where you analyze what relationships are beneficial and not destructive. It helps you build confidence about your interactions and gives you a better support system. This, of course, means you have to be there for your friends too. It is only right to return the favor if they support you.   An even balance of work, family, friends, and self can bring you happiness.   Just do not overwhelm yourself, so know your limits.

When it comes to relationships, we’d like to talk to you about quality over quantity. The number of friends or stable relationships you have does not matter. It is the quality of those relationships that matters. An individual can literally only have two friends and have a better quality relationship with them than an individual who may have ten friends. Now, you can have ten friends and have a  great quality relationship with them. The main point is to not focus on the numbers. Instead, focus on the relationship.

We have a key to helping you create better quality relationships and it’s not even a secret. The key is communication. It seems simple, right? Believe it or not, communication is a skill that needs plenty of practice to maintain and hone. With practice comes better ways to communicate and share your ideas, experiences, and feelings without obstructing a relationship. The trick is not to think too much, while at the same time trusting yourself and your friends. Feel free to ask if they are okay with something or ask their point of view. Questions like these open channels to communicate more deeply and make more connections.

Practicing communication will help you move one step closer to creating a stable social network and maintaining better quality relationships. Having a more stable social network made of family, spouse, and friends helps you build a better support system, which gives you more confidence in everyday interactions. With the mastering of communication skills, you can become a professional at making friends and having a great social life. You deserve it!

The EE 411: Social Health

With the creation of new technology and more efficient ways of getting in touch comes greater responsibility. There is nothing wrong with having relationships (friendships, etc.) with individuals online (as long as you know who they are) but do not let those online relationships take away from in person, face-to-face relationships. Remember, balance is the key to happiness.

Ways to help or open communication in relationships:

  • Play twenty-one questions where you can ask them 21 questions about themselves and make your own rules. Make it fun!
  • If you know that your friends like to have spa days or massages, how about you all find a time when you are free and meet up. Or you could have your own Spa parties at each other’s places and interchange. (We recommend Calming Spa Seaweed body bar, sea salt, sugar, and body balm for the theme.)
  • Find something that all of your friends like to do whether it’s shopping, going out dancing or for dinner, playing your favorite sports game, even getting together and watching your favorite sports game.
  • If you are too busy for friends, make time! Having a break every now and again can help you think clearly. It also benefits your relationships.
  • Having a game night or dinner party is a great way to get friends and family together.

Organic Skin Care – Winter Routine

Good Winter Earth’s Enrichers!

Organic Skin Care- Winter RoutineThis is the coldest part of the year. Do you have what it takes to complete the winter routine challenge? Each day during the harsh cold of the winter season, there is a routine to keep your skin healthy and give it what it needs to protect itself from the cold atmosphere. The goal of this winter routine is to keep your skin moisturized– that way it won’t become chapped or blistered.

Believe it or not, during the cold winter season your skin is introduced from one extreme climate to the next. When you’re outside it’s pure cold, maybe a harsh wind or two, and sometimes without enough moisture to help your skin. Then when you go inside to warm up, it can be too hot for your skin reducing the amount of its moisture.

There are routines that you can do to keep your skin hydrated and protected.  The most important area of focus is the skin on your face. In the winter you are more than likely covered neck to toe in warmer clothes that shield your arms, legs, and sometimes hands from the harsher weather. Your face has to endure the whipping wind and extreme cold—so it should be your priority before you leave the house to have it properly moisturized.

To moisturize properly, look for moisturizers especially for your face that protect from the cold and also the sun! Even though it is freezing and it feels like the sun is on vacation, it is really still emitting rays that could negatively affect your skin, depending on the sensitivity. Look for moisturizers that contain sunblock. That way you add another layer of protection to your facial skin.

The usual morning routine consists of washing your face.  During cold weather, it’s best to take extra precaution in your facial cleansing.  Since the cold weather already has the capability of drying out your skin, try not to use cleansers that will aid in this. Instead, try looking for cleansers that do not contain sulfates or alcohol, which tend to dry out and chap skin.

Remember, your lips are a part of your face and they need their own special kind of care. When it’s cold it can be even more difficult to keep your lips from falling apart, so be sure to look for moisturizing lip balms or chapsticks that contain sunblock. That way your entire face is happy and you can show it through your lips with a perfectly comfortable smile.

Your hands are very important you, so it makes sense to keep them moisturized as well, especially if you don’t have gloves. That way you give your hands a fighting chance against winter’s scorn. Keeping them moisturized helps prevent abrasions (such as splitting of the skin due to dryness) and uncomfortable things like hangnails.  Since your hands are one of the most busiest parts of your body, you might want to use creams to help keep them moisturized longer.

Outer beauty isn’t always all that counts; it’s inner beauty as well. Eating and drinking properly can keep your skin nourished. Other than moisturizing properly, you should drink lots of water. It helps keep your skin moisturized. It’s almost like your body’s back up plan against dryness. So keeping it fueled with enough hydration helps keep you looking young and refreshed, instead of dry and ashy.

Even though we highlighted a few areas that need the most care in this weather, it is important to moisturize all of your skin on a daily basis. That way your entire body is protected.   So we challenge you to take up these routines in 2014 to shield your skin from the harsh elements of the outdoors.

The EE 411: General Steps

For keeping your face moisturized and ready for the day:

  1. Wash your face using alcohol-free (sulfate-free, etc.) cleansers.
  2. Use moisturizers that are beneficial for your skin type and contain sun protection
  3. Avoid exfoliating when skin is dry or chapped; it could cause blistering. (If this happens, you should see a medical professional.)
  4. Apply lip moisturizer (balm, chapstick, etc.) that is beneficial for your lips and also contains sun protection.

What not to leave the house without:

  1. Lip balm (or chapstick, etc.)
  2. Water bottle
  3. Hand sanitizer
  4. Hand cream
  5. Gloves

Give your hands a hand! Moisturize them before you leave the house and after washing your hands when going outside. That way they can help you do the activities you do every day. Stay warm!
