Hair Growth: Tips & Alternatives—No Tricks!

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Healthy Hair Growth

Hair Growth Oil

As we all know, hair can be a thought on everybody’s mind. Last week we talked about getting your scalp comfortable by reducing the itchiness/inflammation in your favorite hair-dos, but how do we make your hair grow?

We know that short hair styles are all the rage, but there are some of us who want to grow thick and long hair. Since hair growth can’t be forced, we often look for tricks and tips to help it grow. Although we here at EE can’t give you tricks to help it grow, we can give you tips and healthy ways to take care of your hair and foster growth.

Hair Growth Oil
Hair Growth Oil

As we did our research, we found a variety of means and ways to make hair longer but what about healthy? Health is important to helping hair maintain itself and, in some aspects, making it grow. For certain, if it is constantly damaged with too much heat, over washing, and chemicals, then it may never realize its full potential. Also, hair type is all about genetics (determines thickness, length, color, and texture) and the way you maintain (for instance: washing it, using supplements, or using natural oils). The best way to get hair to grow and to find out how long it’s capable of growing is to keep it healthy.

We would like to provide you with five tips to help you realize your hair’s true potential:
1. Do your research! As you are looking up your tricks and tips, make sure that you are picking routines that will maintain your hair’s health as much as it says it will make your hair grow. Also, take a moment and research each ingredient to find out if it is truly helpful with hair growth and hair health.
2. Consult a professional and/or make sure sources are reliable. When you find a routine that you think will work for you, consult an expert, read reviews, and ask around to see if it has been tried.
3. Be Patient! When you do your research and find a routine that is healthy for your hair, then give it time to work. Results won’t show overnight.
4. Be realistic! Remember genetics are also a factor in hair type and growth rate; although there are oils known to aid in growth and strengthening hair they may not always be enough. Also different methods work for different people.
5. Last, but certainly not least. Do what is best for you always!

Well, those are the tips but we aren’t finished yet! We want to leave you with a healthy alternative that maintains hair health and may aid in hair growth. We would like to introduce you to the final product in our “All You Need” Hair Care Collection – Hair Growth Oil. Our USDA Certified Organic Hair Growth Oil is the premier Hair Growth Oil. Enriched with Sunflower Oil, it has “All You Need” for shinier, stronger, and healthier hair. And, of course, it’s made with certified organic and natural ingredients; this oil is not heavy and will not weigh your hair down.

The EE 411: The Magic Behind the Scenes – Hair Growth Oil

Although hair growth is a natural element and can be difficult to control, we’ve incorporated ingredients into our Hair Growth Oil that are known to aid hair growth and maintain the health of your hair. Skin Rejuvenation

Skin Rejuvenation

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Rejuvenation, revitalization, and renewal the three best “R’s” that any person likes to hear when picking a skin care product. Think about it.  How about a product with properties that can help bring the life and color back to your skin? Not magic, just organic ingredients that come with certain benefits, of course.

For instance, we use ingredients like aloe vera, coffee, and shea butter, etc. that contain properties that aid in skin repair and help restore your skin’s natural tone. With the addition of these ingredients, we have made skin care products that not only protect your skin, but protect your good looks as well!

Take a moment and imagine yourself on the beach: you begin your day with a nice shower/bath with Fresh Ground Java, which is filled with vanilla and grind coffee beans imbued with the ability to help improve skin tone and perk up your skin. The next step is the swim suit, then sunscreen, and now you’re ready for a tan in the sand! How wonderful is it to know that before you tan naturally you were rejuvenating and restoring your skin organically. Now, that’s a sweet deal if you ask us!

The EE 411: Better Skin Practices for Skin Rejuvenation

Blemishes and random discoloration on the skin tend to be hidden by makeup, which, if not done properly, can clog pores in the skin. Instead of just covering up the blemishes and moving on, why not try natural and organic remedies to help renew your skin tone?

Nothing works overnight and sometimes remedies don’t work the same for everyone– all we ask is that you give it a try or even consult a professional to inquire about some natural remedies which contain properties that support skin rejuvenation and revitalization.

Here are a few of those natural/organic ingredients we use to aid in skin care:

  • Coffee: reduces cellulite, protects against aging and skin damage, and also acts as an exfoliant.
  • Vanilla: guards against damage of skin cells and improves skin tone.
  • Cocoa Butter: fades blemishes and hydrates skin.
  • Aloe Vera: heals dry skin, stimulates cell growth, aids and repairs damaged tissue, and treats various skin conditions such as burns and eczema.
  • Cinnamon: exfoliates and assists with the drying of acne

There are many other natural and organic ingredients that we use to help look after your skin and your good looks. Under each product we list our ingredients and their benefits for you. Our transparency is for your benefit, you deserve to know all the ingredients that you use on your skin!

Living Health – Foods that Boost Your Energy

Living Healthy - Foods that Boost Your EnergyHey Earth’s Enrichers

Last week we talked about caffeine and how too much could possibly be detrimental to your health. Since we alerted you about caffeine risks, we thought we should give you some other options and means to boost your energy throughout the day. So, just for trivia, what is the most natural way to boost energy?

The answer: Eat! The body usually builds energy from sustenance. Carbohydrates help produce fuel for your body. Eating the right things throughout the day can help your body maintain energy. Perhaps, you may not have to turn to caffeine if you find out what foods provide you with the appropriate amount of energy.

Carbohydrates are meant to be burned off since one of their major purposes is to fuel your body. This is an important aspect to keep in mind when you are eating foods that contain them. It may be counterproductive to overeat the needed amount just as it is counterproductive to under eat. Make sure you don’t skip meals and snack regularly. Not eating properly is a perfect way to zap energy and cause you to turn to not-so-healthy immediate options.

Foods, drinks, or snacks with a lot of sugar will give you a rapid fire of energy, but only for a moment. This can also result in negative health effects and crashing. Trust us, there is nothing worse than a sugar crash when you need to keep moving.

Remember, there are plenty of opportunities throughout the day to sneak in nutrition. It is up to you to determine which of those are the best opportunities. When you are working at your desk starting to feel tired and your stomach growls– pull out an apple or trail mix. It will help keep you stimulated throughout the day.

The EE 411: Foods that Boost Your Energy

To keep you on your toes at work and give you a bit of variety, here are some selections that can help keep you energized throughout the day:

  • Eggs- consist of proteins that help repair your body’s energy after sleeping and boosts you for the day.
  • Brown Rice- has proteins and carbs that help produce energy
  • Fruits- natural sugars, glucose, that your body is better at metabolizing

o   Apples- fiber! A nice sweet way to keep your energy alive without crashing.

o   Oranges- with vitamin C, folate, potassium, fiber, this fruit will give you ongoing doses of energy with each orangy little piece.

o   Bananas- fiber, glucose, fructose, etc. that will help boost energy.

o   Blueberries- consist of energy improving carbs, plus they taste good.

  • Greek Yogurt- why not?!
  • Nuts
  • Beans- a great source of proteins and carbs.
  • Oats- fiber, reduce the risk of CVD.
  • Fish- fatty acids, B6 vitamins, riboflavin, etc. It can lower cholesterol and reduces CVD.
  • Sweet Potatoes- Vitamin A, C, and Carbs to help increase energy.
  • Spinach- A top choice for iron that aids in producing energy.

Organic Soap – Lemongrass Limelight

??????????Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Well Earth’s Enrichers, we are nearing the middle of the summer. We have gotten past the strange cold fronts, the nearly vacant spring, and now everything is starting to find its balance. The birds are chirping, the sun is blazing, the humidity is rising, and the mosquitoes are among us. Yep, we said it, the pest above all pests. Not only are they hard to see and have an irritating buzz, but they also leave you with an unpleasant reminder of their visits.

Well, we have a surprise for you! Did you know lemongrass is a natural mosquito repellent? No, seriously!  The fresh smell of lemons (or citrus), while pleasant to us, repels mosquitoes. They can’t stand it. It’s the perfect plant to plant in your yard to dissuade mosquitoes from entering and perfect for your skin to help ward off mosquitoes.

Think about it, you have all these unpleasant means to get rid of mosquitoes. For instance, those outside candles that could be dangerous around little children, those bug zappers that draw the bugs in the first place, chemical sprays, and body bug sprays that either don’t work or have an unpleasant smell. If you take a chance on those, then why not take a chance with the natural way?

Here’s another cool fact, some of those outdoor candles contain citronella, which helps ward of the bugs. Citronella is naturally found in lemongrass. It may work better straight from the source, don’t you think?

Lemongrass has other amazing benefits for your skin as well. It can help ward of skin infections and fight fungus. It can also act as an astringent, which can help dry out acne.  Try the lemongrass. Plant some of it around your yard to help keep mosquitoes away and also use it on your skin so you have protection wherever you go. That way you’re not just warding off mosquitoes, but you’re also protecting yourself and your skin from possibly damaging unpleasant bites.

The EE 411:

To get you started we have a few awesome selections. Since lemongrass has these great benefits for your skin and relieves us from the world’s most annoying pests, we suggest using our Lemon Fresh Shea organic body bars, body balms, sugar scrubs, and bath salts. We also have a lemongrass mint organic lip balm.

Our refreshing body bars contain lemongrass, shea butter, and cocoa butter, which have the following benefits:

Lemongrass
– Wards off skin infections
– Helps fight fungus infections on skin
– Acts as an astringent

Shea Butter
– Acts as a natural moisturizer
– Soothes skin
– Protects skin against aggressions (wind, sun, cold etc.)

Cocoa Butter
– Fades blemishes
– Hydrates the skin

Our skin softening body balms contain lemongrass and shea butter too; but they also have coconut and sunflower oil. They have the following benefits:

Sunflower Oil
– Aids in the regeneration of skin
– Helps reduce scars and heal wounds
– Improves the appearance of dry, weathered, and aged skin
– Rich in Vitamins A, D, and E which act as an antioxidant

Coconut Oil
– Prevents the drying and flaking of skin
– Helps with rashes
– Protects against sun damage

The sugar scrub has the same benefits as the body balms with the addition of sugar, which can exfoliate the skin, break down the bonding or sticking together of skin cells, and facilitates moisture.

The bath salts also have lemongrass and shea butter, along with sea salt. The benefits of sea salt are that it helps detoxify the body, relaxes the muscles, and reduces aches and pains.

Give one of these a try for your summer vacations and Fourth of July barbeques. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. You could improve the quality of your skin, while protecting yourself from radicals that may ruin the skin like mosquitoes.

Coconut oil and sunflower oil can help regenerate the skin and when those pests bite they can leave behind nasty sores.  Overtime it, these natural organic oils could improve those damaged areas’ appearances, bringing back your skin’s natural glow and pigment.

Lip Balm – Nourishing Lip Balm

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Lip Balm - Nourishing Lip BalmThe weather is now at its finest and also, minus the humid days, it’s driest. Usually, the spring is known for its nice breezy days with moist rainy weather and the occasional thunderstorm. While, on the other hand, summer is known for its intense heat and days without rain. This means it kind of gets dry. Sometimes, like in the harsh winter, it can dry out your skin, especially your lips.

When the weather dries and the body starts to become thirsty or slightly dehydrated, the lips can start to become chapped and dry. It is important to stay hydrated and moisturize your skin, including having a lip balm and practicing healthy lip care.

We at EE narrowed down two main ingredients that we use in our lip balm that are sure to provide your lips with the nourishment they need. These ingredients are coconut oil and shea butter, which are well known for providing protection for your skin.

Coconut oil is a moisturizer that does more than hydrate your skin; it helps repair dry and damaged skin. Peeling, flaking, or rashes can be healed with regular usage. When lips are dry, they tend to peel and flake, which can cause pain or discomfort.

Coconut oil works great on other parts of your skin, so why not put it on your lips? It would leave them smooth and protect them from any sun damage as well—another grand benefit of coconut oil!

Shea butter and coconut oil are the perfect match when it comes to creating a fusion base for a lip balm. Shea butter is a natural moisturizer and it is great for soothing the skin, after the coconut oil regenerates and heals the skin, the shea butter maintains your lips silkiness and nourishes them. Also, just like coconut oil, shea butter can protect against aggressions like wind, cold, and sun making them a great team when it comes to lip care.

The EE 411:

Please welcome Lemongrass Mint, Honey Vanilla, and Coconut Chai lip balms. These lip balms have the coconut oil and shea butter fusion base. However, there are some other awesome ingredients in these lip balms that are dedicated to healthy lip care.

In Lemongrass Mint, we added lemongrass and peppermint. Peppermint helps nourish your skin, while lemongrass helps ward off skin infections or fungus, which is great protection to have for your lips. Just think, how many times do your fingers, writing utensils, or other foreign things touch your lips?

Honey Vanilla is made with vanilla and honey. Not only does it produce a great aroma, but these ingredients are also great for your skin. Vanilla can help reduce stress and prevents the damaging of skin cells. It also helps improve skin tones. It can boost your lips’ natural color. Then honey swoops in with the protection. It helps protect your skin from harmful sun rays and also helps hydrate your lips.

Last but certainly not least, Coconut Chai has cinnamon. Cinnamon helps bring various nutrients to the surfaces of your skin. Not to mention, it has an invigorating fragrance.

Natural Hair Care

Natural Hair CareHey Earth’s Enrichers!

Hey everyone, this week’s about hair care. Let’s start with the basics: Wash, Rinse, and Repeat …simple right? I am afraid it takes a little more than that, especially in terms of hair type. There are a lot of things to be careful of when taking care of your hair. Here’s the hair care trinity—most sacred for all hair care—Shampoo, Condition, and Moisturize.

What is your hair status? Is it oily or does it always need a little hydrating? It’s always important to figure out your hair status. This would also include the type of hair you have whether it is straight or has a curl pattern. The shampoos and conditioners are designed for different hair types and status. For dry hair you may want to look for shampoos that don’t contain sulfates, which will strip your hair of its moisture. Even if your hair is oily, try to avoid sulfates; you don’t want dry out your scalp.

Always accompany shampooing with conditioning. It helps replace and maintain the moisture in your hair. Especially if your style is all-natural, it is recommended to deep condition your hair once every month to maintain your hair’s shine and to prevent it from getting dried out. The most important part of hair care is moisturizing.

Moisturizing keeps your hair from breaking off, prevents itchy-dry scalp, and keeps your hair healthy. Usually after you wash and condition your hair, the next step is to decide which products you need for your hair style. It’s helpful to use oil to make sure your scalp is well hydrated. It is easier to disperse in your hair, especially if you have a really thick curl pattern. Grease can sometimes be a little too much depending on how well your hair can hold its moisture. Also, leave in conditioners are great for locking in moisturizer without leaving an oily feeling.

The EE 411:

Do you know why it is important to clean and moisturize during your hair care process? Sometimes people forget that under the hair is skin– your scalp. It is probably the most ignored portion of skin on your body. It needs to be cleaned by products that will look after its well-being and will not dry it out or leave it oily. Also, like other parts of your skin, it needs to be moisturized properly. So find oils that are not just good for hair but also for skin like coconut oil, argon oil, and oils made from nuts, avocado, or olives. In taking care of the skin, you can actually help your hair stay healthy.

Organic Soap – This Not That

Top Quality Products

Hey everybody!

At Earth’s Enrichments we felt that it was time to give you detailed insight into why our body bars are made the way that they are.  We did lots of homework and studied the best ingredients for your skin.  In doing so, we have avoided using some harmful compounds and chemicals in our soaps.  Here’s what we have excluded– our body bars have absolutely no parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petroleum, artificial coloring, artificial fragrances, nor any preservatives.

These above ingredients have been known to produce harmful effects to the skin and can result in discomfort. We know what it’s like to have sensitive skin and have some elements in the average soap break you out. We know what it’s like to have skin irritation and can’t find skin care products that won’t irritate your skin further. We also know what it’s like to use an organic soap and have it not meet your expectation.   So, we have used our experiences and homework to make our soap with you and your skin in mind.

The EE 411

We at EE offer an all-natural and USDA certified organic soap that does not include parabens, sulfates, phthalates, petroleum, artificial coloring, artificial fragrances, or preservatives.  Below are brief descriptions for each chemical and the possible effects that they can have on your body.  We encourage you to do your own homework and look more into them. You will find it quite interesting!

Parabens

Parabens are a compound that is made to chemically preserve cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.  They were made chemically as a cheaper alternative to natural fungicides and bactericides such as grapefruit seed extract (GSE).

Although they may be a cheaper alternative, with constant usage they can have some, both minor and major, health risks. Parabens have been found in breast cancer tumors and are known to mimic estrogen.   Although there is not a correlation between cancer and parabens, the ability to mimic estrogen could be responsible for early puberty in girls.

Sulfates

Sulfates are mineral salts that contain sulfur. It is used in food, beverages, hair and skin care products.  It has been known to dry out the skin and scalp causing it to become itchy.  Also, if it gets into your eyes, it can irritate them (remember what happens when you shampoo).  Substantial exposure to sulfates can cause diarrhea, intestinal pain, and a bit of a decrease normal stomach acidity.

Phthalates

Phthalates are actually plasticizers which gives substances it is added to flexibility, longevity, and durability. This means phthalates add plastic to whatever it is in. This includes deodorants, nail polish, hair spray, perfumes, lotions, creams, and powders), and baby products. Its main function in lotion is to help penetrate the skin and soften it. It also helps maintain the fragrance.

When used in skincare products it can be absorbed through the skin, entered into the bloodstream and traces can be found in urine. It can even be found in the urine of infants whose mothers used skincare products with phthalates during pregnancy.  Substantial amounts of phthalates are known to cause hormone imbalances and birth defects.

Petroleum

Petroleum is a highly flammable liquid that contains hydrocarbons, some molecular weights, crude oils, and other liquid organic compounds. When we say organic compounds we mean fossil fuels (the main ingredient in this are dead organisms).

Short term effects of crude petroleum hydrocarbons can be respiratory problems, depression, anxiety disorder, and other mental disorders.

Artificial Coloring

Artificial coloring can be found in lotions, shampoos, soaps, and other such products and can contain certain amounts of metal allotments. Some of those metal allotments could consist of arsenic, lead, and mercury. These metals are known to cause gastrointestinal (orally taken), and could contaminate the skin.

Artificial Preservatives

Artificial preservatives come in many forms like nitrates, sulphur dioxide, sulfites, and parabens. They are highly allergenic, toxic, and are known to cause tumors. Some of these artificial preservatives can also contain small amounts of formaldehyde. This can irritate the skin, cause cancer, and could even damage the nervous system.

Artificial Fragrances

Artificial fragrances are often made using petrochemicals (natural scents mixed with petroleum).  They can irritate the skin, aggravate asthma, and cause nausea, mood change, depression, lethargy, restlessness, irritability, memory lapses, and the inability to concentrate.
