The EE Spring Agenda: A Royal Spa Treatment

Hey Earth’s Enrichers – Let’s Exfoliate!

Exfoliate
Exfoliate

As spring gradually approaches, let’s do some spring-time prep! As we have already mentally prepared ourselves for the new weather, we should also prepare our skin. So break out the organic, all-natural, and healthy skin care products for an in-house royal spa treatment…deluxe!

Speaking of spa treatments, we think Calming Spa Seaweed might be a perfect example of a product to use for a royal spring spa day. Before we get more into why Calming Spa is a perfect example, we have an agenda:

1. Exfoliate
2. Cleanse
3. Moisturize
4. Emerge as Royalty

As we mentioned before, Calming Spa Seaweed is a perfect example (similar to Lavender of the Valley and Lemon Fresh Shea) because it is one of our products that can meet every point on the EE agenda. But, again, we’ll get into that later! Each step on our agenda is important for transforming your winter skin to radiant spring skin.

First things first, exfoliate. Wait, isn’t exfoliating after cleansing? Not exactly– you want to remove the dead skin to effectively rid your body of impurities. After exfoliating with the sugar scrubs, move onto the body bar, which is number 2 on the EE agenda. Using a combination of the bar and your favorite cleansing utensil, lather and lightly scrub your skin. When you exfoliate, you’re removing a dermis or layer of skin to reveal a softer almost new layer of skin. Please be mindful that scrubbing newly exfoliated skin roughly may cause irritation. Although many people prefer to exfoliate in the shower, it can also be done as you take a nice soothing bath.

Before we move on to number 3 on our agenda, there is an optional 2.5 step that we do recommend. Number 2.5 on the agenda is a leisurely soak in bath salts. Hey, exfoliating and cleansing is hard work—you deserve a much needed break. Prepare your tub for a round of soaking. Allow the deliciously warm water to wash over you and the toxins to fade away…relax. Take as long as you’d like—light a candle. Let us know when you’re ready to move on to number 3 on the agenda; we’ll wait.

…are you ready?

Next, shower and rinse the residual salt and impurities from your body. Grab a soft warm towel and lightly dab or gently dry your skin. Remember, this is your new spring skin—it’s almost like a baby’s.

Now number 3 on the agenda is to apply your favorite body balm i.e. moisturize. Watch as the balm brings out your skin’s radiance. Earlier, we used Calming Spa Seaweed as an example of a perfect spa product. The reason why is because we want you to keep the flavor of your spa day consistent. Calming Spa Seaweed, Lavender of the Valley, and Lemon Fresh Shea all have identical body bars, body balms, bath salts, and sugar scrubs. Almost made especially for spa days, right?

Now last but certainly not least, grand number 4 on our agenda. If you would kindly step over to the mirror and say the magic words, Mirror, who is the most radiant of them all?” It’s okay if you whisper back and say you are. ^-^

There, agenda is complete—you have officially finished EE’s version of a royal spa treatment.

We always treat our Earth’s Enrichers the way we want to be treated and a royal spa treatment to get your skin radiant for the spring is definitely what you deserve!

So, now that the sunshine lasts longer and the weather is looking a lot nicer, enjoy some time outside or redecorate and clean—release your creative side! Spring cleaning is for the heart, mind, body, and soul; not just for keeping your environment clean.

The EE 411: Exfoliate – Spa Utensils

In order to get the best spa experience out of our agenda, we recommend you review our blogs on Organic Skin Care: Exfoliating, Organic Skin Care: Cleansing, and Bathing Tools. This will give you more detail and tips on how to better the royal spa experience.

Shea Butter Body Balms

Body Balms (USDA Organic)

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Shea Butter Body Balms (USDA Organic)Shea Butter Body Balms

We hope that you are enjoying this beautiful weather! As more fall like days quickly approach and the temperature starts to drop, we have to ask, what do you put on your skin to keep it nourished and moisturized? Are you a lotion person or a shea butter body balm person?

What are Shea Butter Body Balms?

You do know the difference between lotions and body balms, right? Lotion, of course, moisturizes but it is not as thick or as creamy as a body balm. Lotions are made of oils and water. Body balms are much more dense and contain less water and more oil.

Why People use Shea Butter Body Balms?

One of body balm’s primary purposes is to moisturize skin effectively in a way that lotion cannot moisturize. The lotions you use may contain too much water and may not be giving your skin the level of moisturizing it needs.

Since body balms contain less water, they have enough of the proper oils to nourish the skin. When an individual applies lotion and it takes a good glob or handful of lotion to effectively nourish your skin, then a body balm may be what you need. It takes less than a big glob and can be used on the legs, face, arms, and feet.

Now, lotion is not all bad, but it is more convenient for you and healthier for your skin if you know how much moisturizer to apply. Lotion may not be enough to help you reach smooth, nourished, and moisturized skin. Also, it’s troublesome when you have too much of the lotion in your hands. Have you ever put too much lotion in your hands and looked for someone or something to wipe it on? Confess up!

Not to mention that wasting the lotion is kind of like losing money. Body balms usually come in a jar like ours. That way if you take too much you can just put it back in the jar and close the lid. Also, it is important to be careful when using dense oils to moisturize your skin, especially if you have naturally oily skin. Too much oil can cause break outs. So, use dense moisturizers responsibly.

What are the benefits of Body Balms?

If used appropriately, body balms can have many great effects on the skin. It’s a means of moisturizing your skin without suffocating it. They also give your skin a natural glow and make it more vibrant.

Body balms also come in many different fragrances. Each scent can come with its on benefits based on the ingredients that are used. For instance, here at EE we have three different scents: Lemon Fresh Shea, Calming Spa Seaweed, and Lavender of the Valley.  We also have an unscented body balm called Naturally Nude.

Before we go into the individual benefits, there are three main shared ingredients that we use in our balms. These ingredients produce the basic benefits of each balm. The three ingredients are sunflower oil, shea butter, and coconut oil. Sunflower oil helps the skin regenerate, reducing scars, improving aged skin, and has vitamins A, D, and E, while Coconut oil prevents the skin from flaking, helps with rashes, and protects against sun damage. Shea butter is a natural moisturizer that soothes the skin and helps protect it from elemental radicals like the wind and sun.

In EE’s Lemon Fresh Shea Body balm, we have other ingredients like lemongrass which wards off infections and fungus. In Calming Spa Seaweed, there are ingredients like seaweed and rosemary mint. Seaweed helps protect and nourish the skin while increasing blood circulation and combating inflammation. Rosemary mint soothes the skin and relieves any itch or irritation. It also is great for nasal and respiratory problems. In Lavender of the Valley, there is lavender which helps you relax and has gentle healing benefits.  The ingredients in Naturally Nude are great for sensitive skin and for individuals who are sensitive to varies scents and fragrances.  We invite you to try them and see which one is to your liking.

The EE 411:

As you all know, we encourage you to try things that are good for your health, not just for your skin but your overall wellness. In order to effectively maintain good health, it is important to know what is best for your body.

Body balms are great for the skin, but they must be used wisely and appropriately. Pay attention to where your body prefers deeper moisturizers. If skin on parts of your body produce more oils than others, keep it duly noted. You do not want to over burden your skin with oils.

Also, if you find that some places are more likely to become dry, then it may be the primary spot you want to apply the body balm. If used excessively without proper hygiene, the oils in the body balm could clog the pores. That is why it is important to know how much is too much for your skin and maintain your body’s cleanliness. That way you and your body know and have a proper balance.

Natural Health – Ways to Relieve Skin Irritations

Natural Health- Ways to Relieve Skin IrritationsHey Earth’s Enrichers

In some instances, desperate times can call for desperate measures. What can you do to relieve the temporary discomfort that comes from skin break outs? You know the inflamed, red, itchy areas that happen when we make that one mistake we didn’t need. These cases tend not to be as serious as a visit to the emergency room, but can be as irritating as the day is long.

So this week, Earth’s Enrichers, we will be dedicated to giving you helpful and natural ways to relieve skin irritation. These remedies can be found in your own home and can be helpful when the irritation is not so serious but is far from comfortable. If you find that the irritation is something serious, then it’s best to contact a professional or doctor before taking any further action.

In weather that’s, icy and windy, your face or other constantly exposed areas can be subject to harsh elements. To protect your skin from the irritation of the cold, we recommend you moisturize and continue to hydrate your skin throughout the day. Coconut oil and shea butter (which we use to base all of our balms by the way) are great for healing, moisturizing, and revitalizing skin. Keeping your skin clean and moisturized properly everyday will help prevent irritation.

Then again, even when precautions are taken, things can still happen. So, what do you do to ease annoying skin irritation? There is a simple and general tactic to relieve discomfort. The first thing you should not do is constantly mess with or scratch the irritated area; that could make it worse. Not to mention, the dirt and bacteria from your hands could cause contamination.

So, the first step to take is to make sure the irritated area is clean.  Use natural skin sensitive cleansers that contain natural relievers like oatmeal and aloe vera. Using a cold water soaked wash cloth, pat the area gently or place it over the area. Do not scrub the area or leave it wet—pat the area dry with a soft towel. The cool water will help relieve the hotness of irritation temporarily.

Aloe Vera has healing and cooling properties that can soothe irritations. Also, using a cold compress is an alternative. It can reduce swelling and provide temporary relief from the burning irritated skin, there are also properties in oatmeal that can help relieve inflammation. When cleaning or soaking the irritated area, it is best to use cold to lukewarm water. This way you don’t produce more irritation to the affected area or dry it out.

Last but certainly not least, remove anything from that area of the body that could cause irritation. For instance, a tag or piece of clothing that continually comes in contact with that area will cause further irritation. Following this process should help provide some relief for any skin discomfort or irritation. If it doesn’t go away in a timely fashion, we recommend that you seek medical attention to see what the allergenic is or what continues to irritate your skin.

The EE 411:  Skin Irritations – Break Out the Break Out Remedies

Remember, it is important to know your body. Make a note of the things that break you out and cause allergic reactions. It will help save you from future troubles. Once you recognize what irritates your skin, you can have a better assessment of its sensitivities. You will start to develop a profile that helps you select products that benefit you. So, for remedies that can help relieve the annoyance of skin inflammation, redness, and itchiness, please see below:

When looking to reduce redness and inflammation, the following are good options:

Simply place these things on the area until temporary relief is evident. It shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes.

When looking for something to reduce itching and irritation, the following are good choices:

  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Baking soda (a teaspoon add water)
  • Oatmeal
  • Peppermint leaves*
  • Basil leaves*

(*Also, good for bug bites)

Taking controlled amounts of these substances and gently rubbing them on the irritated area should temporally cease the annoyance. Check out other skincare remedies.

Here at EE we do care about your health. If you find that you constantly deal with your skin breaking out, then perhaps you should assess the products you are using. We encourage you to try us and see if our products lead your skin to better results. We make our products with you in mind, so don’t forget we have your back. For a quick start, here are some EE products that contain ingredients that help with relief of irritation, inflammation, and redness.

Organic Soap – Lemongrass Limelight

??????????Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Well Earth’s Enrichers, we are nearing the middle of the summer. We have gotten past the strange cold fronts, the nearly vacant spring, and now everything is starting to find its balance. The birds are chirping, the sun is blazing, the humidity is rising, and the mosquitoes are among us. Yep, we said it, the pest above all pests. Not only are they hard to see and have an irritating buzz, but they also leave you with an unpleasant reminder of their visits.

Well, we have a surprise for you! Did you know lemongrass is a natural mosquito repellent? No, seriously!  The fresh smell of lemons (or citrus), while pleasant to us, repels mosquitoes. They can’t stand it. It’s the perfect plant to plant in your yard to dissuade mosquitoes from entering and perfect for your skin to help ward off mosquitoes.

Think about it, you have all these unpleasant means to get rid of mosquitoes. For instance, those outside candles that could be dangerous around little children, those bug zappers that draw the bugs in the first place, chemical sprays, and body bug sprays that either don’t work or have an unpleasant smell. If you take a chance on those, then why not take a chance with the natural way?

Here’s another cool fact, some of those outdoor candles contain citronella, which helps ward of the bugs. Citronella is naturally found in lemongrass. It may work better straight from the source, don’t you think?

Lemongrass has other amazing benefits for your skin as well. It can help ward of skin infections and fight fungus. It can also act as an astringent, which can help dry out acne.  Try the lemongrass. Plant some of it around your yard to help keep mosquitoes away and also use it on your skin so you have protection wherever you go. That way you’re not just warding off mosquitoes, but you’re also protecting yourself and your skin from possibly damaging unpleasant bites.

The EE 411:

To get you started we have a few awesome selections. Since lemongrass has these great benefits for your skin and relieves us from the world’s most annoying pests, we suggest using our Lemon Fresh Shea organic body bars, body balms, sugar scrubs, and bath salts. We also have a lemongrass mint organic lip balm.

Our refreshing body bars contain lemongrass, shea butter, and cocoa butter, which have the following benefits:

Lemongrass
– Wards off skin infections
– Helps fight fungus infections on skin
– Acts as an astringent

Shea Butter
– Acts as a natural moisturizer
– Soothes skin
– Protects skin against aggressions (wind, sun, cold etc.)

Cocoa Butter
– Fades blemishes
– Hydrates the skin

Our skin softening body balms contain lemongrass and shea butter too; but they also have coconut and sunflower oil. They have the following benefits:

Sunflower Oil
– Aids in the regeneration of skin
– Helps reduce scars and heal wounds
– Improves the appearance of dry, weathered, and aged skin
– Rich in Vitamins A, D, and E which act as an antioxidant

Coconut Oil
– Prevents the drying and flaking of skin
– Helps with rashes
– Protects against sun damage

The sugar scrub has the same benefits as the body balms with the addition of sugar, which can exfoliate the skin, break down the bonding or sticking together of skin cells, and facilitates moisture.

The bath salts also have lemongrass and shea butter, along with sea salt. The benefits of sea salt are that it helps detoxify the body, relaxes the muscles, and reduces aches and pains.

Give one of these a try for your summer vacations and Fourth of July barbeques. There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. You could improve the quality of your skin, while protecting yourself from radicals that may ruin the skin like mosquitoes.

Coconut oil and sunflower oil can help regenerate the skin and when those pests bite they can leave behind nasty sores.  Overtime it, these natural organic oils could improve those damaged areas’ appearances, bringing back your skin’s natural glow and pigment.

Lip Balm – Nourishing Lip Balm

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Lip Balm - Nourishing Lip BalmThe weather is now at its finest and also, minus the humid days, it’s driest. Usually, the spring is known for its nice breezy days with moist rainy weather and the occasional thunderstorm. While, on the other hand, summer is known for its intense heat and days without rain. This means it kind of gets dry. Sometimes, like in the harsh winter, it can dry out your skin, especially your lips.

When the weather dries and the body starts to become thirsty or slightly dehydrated, the lips can start to become chapped and dry. It is important to stay hydrated and moisturize your skin, including having a lip balm and practicing healthy lip care.

We at EE narrowed down two main ingredients that we use in our lip balm that are sure to provide your lips with the nourishment they need. These ingredients are coconut oil and shea butter, which are well known for providing protection for your skin.

Coconut oil is a moisturizer that does more than hydrate your skin; it helps repair dry and damaged skin. Peeling, flaking, or rashes can be healed with regular usage. When lips are dry, they tend to peel and flake, which can cause pain or discomfort.

Coconut oil works great on other parts of your skin, so why not put it on your lips? It would leave them smooth and protect them from any sun damage as well—another grand benefit of coconut oil!

Shea butter and coconut oil are the perfect match when it comes to creating a fusion base for a lip balm. Shea butter is a natural moisturizer and it is great for soothing the skin, after the coconut oil regenerates and heals the skin, the shea butter maintains your lips silkiness and nourishes them. Also, just like coconut oil, shea butter can protect against aggressions like wind, cold, and sun making them a great team when it comes to lip care.

The EE 411:

Please welcome Lemongrass Mint, Honey Vanilla, and Coconut Chai lip balms. These lip balms have the coconut oil and shea butter fusion base. However, there are some other awesome ingredients in these lip balms that are dedicated to healthy lip care.

In Lemongrass Mint, we added lemongrass and peppermint. Peppermint helps nourish your skin, while lemongrass helps ward off skin infections or fungus, which is great protection to have for your lips. Just think, how many times do your fingers, writing utensils, or other foreign things touch your lips?

Honey Vanilla is made with vanilla and honey. Not only does it produce a great aroma, but these ingredients are also great for your skin. Vanilla can help reduce stress and prevents the damaging of skin cells. It also helps improve skin tones. It can boost your lips’ natural color. Then honey swoops in with the protection. It helps protect your skin from harmful sun rays and also helps hydrate your lips.

Last but certainly not least, Coconut Chai has cinnamon. Cinnamon helps bring various nutrients to the surfaces of your skin. Not to mention, it has an invigorating fragrance.
