Spring Allergies

Allergies
Allergies

Allergies! It’s the sneezing—ugh, excuse us, SEASON for sneezing, coughing, burning eyes, and irritation we’ve all come to loathe. Trust us when we say we understand your pain. You know what’s to blame for that? Pollen blowing through the air coming from trees, grass, and weeds! Once the pollen goes into the nose it can cause people to sneeze, cough, and, well, you know the rest.

This week we will focus on some brief reminders of ways to help relieve the effects of allergies. Do you remember the effects of aroma therapy? Pure mint is the end all be all for congestion. Using a neti pot or a bowl of hot, and we mean HOT, water pour a little mint extract or oil and inhale gently (keep your eyes closed). It can temporarily relieve the congestion. Ah, to breathe again.

It also wouldn’t hurt to soak in a little Calming Spa Seaweed (bath salts).  It contains rosemary mint which may also help with decongestion while you detox everything else. Speaking of salt, salt can help temporally relieve soreness in the limbs and throat. Take warm water, not HOT, mix it with salt, and gargle with it—we wouldn’t recommend swallowing. Don’t use tap water, you want to make sure the water or steam produced by water is clean to avoid any other risks.

Staying hydrated is important in any season or time of the year. Not to mention, those of you who get special eye drops or nasal sprays, etc. stay on top of your stock and keep in touch with your doctor. As always do what is best for you. Check expiration dates, use clean hot/warm water, and try to stay relaxed! Stress won’t help make your allergy symptoms any better.

The EE 411: Don’t Forget your Tea when it Comes to Allergies

Folks tend to forget the natural benefits of tea! Well, don’t. Tea has a refreshing warmth that helps quell the congestion and please the pallet. It’s also that cool crispness needed to revitalize you on a sunny, hot day. Nevertheless, we realize tea is an acquired taste but if you haven’t had the pleasure, now’s as good of a time as any.

Welcome Back to Spring …Cleaning

Hey Earth’s Enrichers

Welcome to the first week of spring, are you excited? We have to say, this transition from winter to spring has been a little odd if you ask us. So, we are definitely ready for the sunshine, flowers, and spring rain to help clean away the remnants of winter!

Oh, and speaking of cleaning—are you prepared for the season of cleanly maintenance? Spring cleaning is in this season! This is the time of year for yard sales, floor busting cleaning, and redecorating. This is the time to pick a sunny day and get busy. And, you know, spring cleaning has both physical and mental benefits. Not only does cleaning help keep you fit but it helps rid your home of irritants that may have accumulated over the winter.

As you clean, we recommend that you incorporate dusting, vacuuming, air duct cleaning and shampooing (the rugs) to aid in getting rid of any allergens that may irritate your skin like animal hair, dandruff, dust mites, or dead skin cells. Also, changing the bedding, often as you know, can help eliminate those irritants (mites, crumbs, dead skins cells, etc.).

Furthermore, keep the windows open while cleaning to bring in fresh air while dusting and vacuuming so you aren’t inhaling irritating particles or getting too many of those particles in your hair. Last but certainly not least, wearing gloves, scarfs, and protective gear will help keep whatever you’re cleaning out of your hair, lungs, and eyes. Warning: watch out for any critters that may have moved in during the winter, Ick!

Besides actual cleaning, spring cleaning is also about revitalizing a healthier you not just tidying up your place. Winter is the season of keeping warm and staying cooped up in the house but spring is the time to stretch! Release the cob webs and take in a deep breath because spring cleaning is really all about stress relief.

Remember, what Feng Shui means?
Feng Shui is all about harmonizing with your surroundings. In some cases, that means readjusting your surroundings or tapping into your creative side. Creativity or even being active can help release pressure and anxiety. Doing things like cleaning or redecorating gives you something to do— in addition to be a type of fitness or exercise—and when you have finished your spring task there is a big sense of accomplishment or relief. Spring is like an open door to get away or change what needs changing whether it’s your surroundings or your actions!

So, now that the sunshine lasts longer and the weather is looking a lot nicer, enjoy some time outside or redecorate and clean—release your creative side! Spring cleaning is for the heart, mind, body, and soul; not just for keeping your environment clean.

The EE 411: Soul Spring Cleaning Tips

We encourage you to carpe diem or seize the day. Take some time to whoosa and harmonize with your surroundings while enjoying what spring has to offer. By this we mean:

        • Taking a walk in the park.
        • Or if the weather isn’t quite the right temp. for you, go to a room in your house and open all blinds and curtains. Find a place to be peaceful.
        • Meditate both indoors and out.
        • Take up some Yoga, which can also be an indoors or outdoors activity.
        • For actual Spring Cleaning, make it a party—put on some music and dance the mess away.
        • Take a break from the video games that have sustained you during winter and go outside and play.

These are just a few examples but we hope we can give you an idea of what we mean and where to start. We want to leave you with this today: Have fun this spring and don’t worry so much. The world isn’t expecting you to be perfect so it will settle for your best! Take care of yourself, your health, and your happiness—you deserve it!
